Welcome on homepage of the Budapest Home for Mentally Handicapped People located in Tordas! We are an institution of the Hungarian capitol Budapest and give permanent and stable home to 260 mentally disabled people, many of them severely handicapped. Our home is located in two places of the rural community of Tordas in quiet and peaceful surroundings. Tordas is a dynamic, forward-looking small village in Fejér county near the M7 highway 35 km away from Budapest. Since 1981 we are – as an institution – part of the villages everyday life. First the home was located in the rooms of a little old castle, but since the year 2000 – when we completed moving on May 15th – we live in a new and modern building which holds place for 200 persons. By the time the smaller houses of our home where also finished in March 2006, we completed the entire change of location and left the castle out of various reasons regarding medical and mental care.
Our new and family-like home is located on Gesztenyes út (chestnut street) and therefore on a central, easy reachable point in the village. The architecture wholly fits the special needs of the residents. Since the year 2007 we also hold a small house in the middle of the village which gives place to 12 people who are able to live and run a household toghether on their own with only a little help if requested by them.
You will find more information on our home if you take a closer look around on our homepage. Thank you very much for taking interest in our institution! |
